  • Three pounds of a whole chicken
  • Pepper and salt
  • Two tsps. of barbecue seasoning rub (dry)
  • Five ounces of butter (sliced)
  • One lemon (cut in wedges)
  • Two onions (cut in wedges)
  • One-fourth cup of water
  • One tsp. of butter (to grease)


  1. Preheat your oven at one hundred and seventy degrees Celsius.
  2. Use butter for greasing a deep baking dish.
  3. Season the chicken with pepper, salt, and barbecue rub. Place the chicken in the greased baking dish.
  4. Arrange lemon wedges and onions surrounding the chicken.
  5. Add slices of butter on the chicken.
  6. Bake for one hour and thirty minutes. Make sure you baste the whole chicken with the drippings occasionally.
  7. Cut the chicken in pieces.
  8. Serve hot.
